At Watersone we specialize in training Labradors using time-honored British gundog methods-focusing on calm, steady and responsive dogs that work with precision and grace. Rooted in quiet handling, natural ability and mutual respect between handler and dog. Our approach emphasizes steadiness to shot, soft mouth delivery and silent control in the field. Our program is designed to bring out the Labradors innate intelligence, biddability and natural game-finding ability without an ecollar. We believe in developing a true partenership, where the dog works with you, not for you.

Basic Obedience

In our Basic Obedience program, we focus on teaching your dog fundamental commands, both on and off leash:

  1. SIT: Your dog will learn to sit on command, a foundational behavior that helps instill discipline and control.
  2. DOWN: Teaching your dog to lie down on command promotes calmness and relaxation, essential for obedience in various situations.
  3. HERE/COME This command teaches your dog to come to you when called,  a strong recall is key to your dogs safety and sucecess in future training.
  4. HEEL: With this command, your dog will learn to walk calmly and attentively beside you, without pulling on the leash, making walks more enjoyable for both of you.
  5. PLACE: Your dog will learn to go to a designated spot and stay there until released, providing structure by use of a place board. This will be a usefull command for many other applications.


Through positive reinforcement and consistent training methods, we ensure that your dog learns these commands effectively, building a strong foundation for further training and enhancing the bond between you and your canine companion. We never use an e-collar in any stage of our training.

Gun Dog

Waterstone offers a unique gun dog program thats based on traditional British methods and combining skills that are required for hunting situations in the US and Canada. The 4-5 month board and train program will get your dog ready to hunt waterfowl, doves and or upland game.


The goal for the program will be to produce a dog that is steady and quiet in the blind and will retrieve back to hand. The dog will be reliable in most common hunting situations. We also do not use an e-collar and the goal is to produce a dog that is reliable off lead.

The primary focus will be the memory and marked retrieve and or quarter and flush if you want to hunt upland game.



We also customize the training based on the game you choose to pursue.

Advanced Gun Dog

The advanced training requires the successful completion of the Gun Dog program. This program is an additional 4-5 month(or longer depending on your dog).


In the program we will build on the basics and add multiple marks, handling to a blind retrieve and honoring another working dog. A true comapnion and hunting dog you can be proud to own.
